Bug reports, questions and suggestions: support@hexmonger.com. Please say which device and which version of the game you are on, and what you were doing when it happened — for a bug in a generated world, the adventure you were playing helps a great deal.

Playing

How do I move and fight?
Drag anywhere on the left half of the screen for a floating joystick. Tap an enemy to strike — a second finger works while the first is still steering. Tap a person to talk to them, and tap to advance what they say. On a keyboard, WASD or the arrow keys move, E or Space interacts, and clicking does what tapping does.
I would like to be taught rather than told.
Title screen → Play the tutorial. It teaches by doing — moving, talking, and the first fight — and Esc skips it at any point.
Where is the map, my pack, and my quests?
The map screen: press M or Esc, or tap the minimap in the corner. It has tabs for Map, Inventory, Quests, Menu, and Settings, and the world stands still while it is open.
Where do adventures come from?
Title screen → The library of adventures. It lists every adventure on the device — the ones the game ships with, and any you have installed — with what became of each one, and it is where you choose who walks into the next one.

Saved games

How do I save?
Map screen → Menu, where there are three save slots. The game also autosaves at checkpoints and when the app is suspended, so a session the phone ended is not a session lost. Continue on the title screen picks up whichever is newest — usually the autosave.
“That save was written by a newer version of Goblin Hunt.”
That slot was written by a newer build than the one installed. Update the game and it will open. Nothing has been damaged — the file is left exactly as it was.
“That save is damaged and cannot be read.”
The file could not be read as a save. Your other slots and the autosave are unaffected. If it keeps happening, please write to support@hexmonger.com and say which platform you are on.
Will an update lose my old saves?
No. A save from an older version is upgraded as it loads, and the file on disk is left as the old build wrote it until you save again — so a bad upgrade can never eat a run.
Where are my saves kept?
On your device, in the game's own private storage. There is no account and no server. On Android they may be included in Android's automatic backup to your Google account; on iOS, in iCloud or local backups. In the browser version they live in the browser's local storage and are cleared when you clear site data for the page. Deleting the game deletes everything it stored.

Ads and purchases

What ads does the game show?
On phones and tablets only, and never during a fight, a conversation, a doorway, or a death screen. Two are offers you can turn down — getting back on your feet where you fell, and a hired sword when you are short of coin — and the decline button is the same size as the accept. One full-screen ad can appear between adventures. The browser version contains no ads and no ad code.
How do I remove the ads?
Map screen → Settings → ADS. In the current release the purchase is not connected to the store yet, and the row says “Remove ads — not yet available” rather than pretending otherwise; when it is connected, that same row is where it will be.
How do I change my answer about ad consent or tracking?
Map screen → Settings → PrivacyPrivacy & ad consent, which reopens the consent form. The row appears for the players who have an answer on file to change. On iOS you can also use Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; on Android, reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads.
Does downloading an adventure send anything about me?
The game ships with nothing to download, and never fetches anything unless you set up a catalogue address yourself. If you do, asking that address for an adventure shows the computer hosting it your IP address, the same as opening any web page — see the privacy policy, section 5. An adventure is only data the game reads: it cannot run code or reach the network.
Does the game need the internet?
Only to fetch ads on phones and tablets. Worlds, saves and adventures are generated and kept on the device.

Is it suitable for children?

Goblin Hunt is a fantasy adventure with combat and depictions of blood. It is not made for children under 13 and is not in any children's programme; ad content is restricted to a teen rating. The privacy policy sets out what the game collects and what it does not.
