Privacy Policy
Cozy Necromancy · Last updated 29 September 2026
Cozy Necromancy is a single-player game for phones, tablets and computers. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no leaderboards, no chat, and no analytics. We — the developer — do not collect, receive, or store any personal information about you.
The one exception is advertising in the phone and tablet versions, which is described in full below. The Steam version for Windows, macOS and Linux has no advertising at all.
What stays on your device
- Your saves and settings. Progress, companions, journal entries and options are written to the game's own storage on your device. They are never uploaded to us. If your device backs itself up (iCloud, Google backup), or you use Steam Cloud, your saves may travel with that copy under your platform's own privacy policy, not ours.
- Conversations with characters. The game runs a small language model on your device to write villager dialogue. The model file ships inside the game. Nothing you type or trigger is sent anywhere — the game has no server, and there is no endpoint for it to send anything to.
Advertising (phones and tablets)
On iPhone, iPad and Android, the game offers you an optional ad when you ask for a hint and your free hints are used up — on a puzzle, or from the hint button in your journal. You choose whether to watch it. There are no banners and no ads you did not ask for.
Those ads are served by Google AdMob. To deliver, cap and measure an ad, Google's advertising SDK collects:
- a resettable device advertising identifier;
- advertising data — that an ad was requested, shown, finished or clicked;
- coarse technical information about the device and app needed to serve an ad (device model, OS version, approximate region derived from your IP address).
This information goes to Google, not to us. We never receive it, and we cannot connect it to you. It is not linked to your identity by us and it is not used to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
On iPhone and iPad we do not ask to track you. The game does not present Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not request your advertising identifier for tracking, so the ads you see on iOS are non-personalized: chosen from context rather than from a profile of you.
How Google uses data from apps that use its services is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can review the ad technology providers Google may work with here.
On Steam (Windows, macOS and Linux)
The Steam version contains no advertising and no advertising SDK, so nothing in the section above applies to it. It collects nothing about you and sends nothing to us.
- Steam itself. You buy, install and launch the game through Steam, which Valve operates under its own privacy policy. The game does not read your Steam profile, friends list or activity. Valve gives us sales and usage reports in aggregate — how many copies sold in a country, for example — never who you are.
- Steam achievements. When you reach a point in the story that carries an achievement, the game tells the Steam client, which records it on your Steam account and shows it where Steam shows achievements, such as your profile. The only thing the game asks Steam in return is which of its own achievements you already have. Achievements are held by Valve, not by us; Steam's privacy settings decide who can see them.
- Steam Cloud. If Steam Cloud is on for the game in your Steam client, Steam copies your saves to your Steam account so they are there on your other computers; settings stay on each computer. That copy is held by Valve, not by us, and you can turn it off in the game's Properties in Steam.
Your choices
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the phone and tablet versions show a consent form the first time they run, provided by Google's User Messaging Platform. You can reopen it later from the game's settings, where that form applies, and change your answer at any time.
- Reset or limit your advertising identifier at any time: on iOS under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and Apple Advertising; on Android under Settings → Google → Ads, which also offers "Delete advertising ID".
- Remove everything. On a phone or tablet, deleting the app removes its saves, settings and the bundled model. On a computer, uninstalling from Steam removes the game and the model but leaves your saves in place in case you come back; the support page says where they are, and deleting that folder removes them.
Children
Cozy Necromancy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The game's subject matter — a village recovering from a plague, and the dead it left behind — is written for older players. Ad content is restricted to a maximum rating of "Teen".
Your rights
Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to show you, correct, or delete. Requests concerning advertising data should be directed to Google, which controls it. If you are unsure where to start, write to us at the address below and we will point you at the right place.
Changes to this policy
If the game's data practices change — most likely because a new feature needs something the current version does not — this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
