If you are writing about a bug, the two things that help most are your device and OS version, and the version number shown at the bottom of the title screen. On a computer, your graphics card and the game's log file help too — it is logs/godot.log, in the same folder as your saves (below). A screenshot is worth a paragraph.

Purchases and refunds on Steam are handled by Steam, at help.steampowered.com; we cannot see or change them.

Common questions

Where are my saves?

On a phone or tablet, in the app's private storage. They are not on a server, so they do not follow you between devices on their own — but they are included in your device's own backup (iCloud on iOS, Google backup on Android), which will carry them to a new phone. Deleting the app deletes the saves.

On a computer, in a folder in your user account:

With Steam Cloud on, Steam keeps a copy of the saves folder in it with your Steam account and puts it back on any computer you play on. Settings are left per computer, so a Steam Deck and a desktop can each keep their own.

I lost progress after reinstalling.

On iOS and Android, deleting an app removes its private storage, and a fresh install starts empty. Restoring the device from a backup made while the game was installed brings the saves back; reinstalling from the store does not.

On a computer, uninstalling from Steam leaves the save folder above alone, so reinstalling picks up where you were. If the folder is gone, Steam Cloud will restore your saves when the game next starts, provided it was on.

Why does the game ask about ads when I first open it?

Only the phone and tablet versions carry ads, and players there in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see a consent form required by law before any ad may be requested. You can reopen it from the game's settings and change your answer whenever you like.

Do I have to watch ads?

No. On phones and tablets, ads appear only where you ask for a hint after your free hints are used — on a puzzle, or from the hint button in your journal — and you choose whether to watch. Every puzzle is solvable without a single hint. The Steam version has no ads at all.

Are the characters' conversations written by an AI on a server?

Some of it is written by a small language model that runs entirely on your device, using a file that ships inside the game: the villagers' small talk, the oracle's hint after a ritual goes wrong, and the routine filler records in the village archive. The story, the companions' dialogue and the clues are written by hand. The game does not talk to a server, and it works with the network off.

The game is slow, or drains the battery.

Running the language model on-device is the most demanding thing the game does, especially on older hardware. While playing, open Settings and, under Perf Diagnostics, turn off Enable AI / LLM, then restart the game: the villagers and the oracle fall back to written lines, and the story does not depend on the model.

How do I report something in the story that reads wrong?

Please do — with a screenshot and roughly where you were. Dialogue that contradicts itself is a bug like any other.
